You Are Not Alone.

Life Factors are the everyday parts of life that affect health and wellness.

SOCIAL DETERMINANTS OF HEALTH (aka "Life Factors")

Understanding the influence of community and social context on safety and overall health is essential for shaping effective public health strategies. Local neighborhoods play a pivotal role by fostering environments where safety is intertwined with supportive social networks.

Goal: Increase social and community support.

Economic stability is foundational to healthy communities and represents a critical aspect of the broader social determinants of health. When individuals and families enjoy steady incomes, affordable housing, and accessible job opportunities, the entire community experiences a ripple effect that fosters improved mental and physical well-being.

Goal: Help people earn steady incomes that allow them to meet their health needs.

Education Access and Quality refers to the ability of individuals to obtain affordable, equitable, and meaningful learning opportunities that support knowledge, skills, confidence, and long-term well-being. It includes whether education is available, reachable, safe, inclusive, and effective in helping people succeed.

Goal: Increase educational opportunities and help children and adolescents do well in school.

Healthcare access and the quality of care provided form the cornerstone of overall public well-being. Many communities face challenges that undermine these essential elements, making it crucial to examine how local infrastructure, policy, and service delivery work together.

Goal: Increase access to comprehensive, high-quality health care services.

Neighborhood and built environment refers to the places where people live, work, learn, and gather — and how those surroundings affect health, safety, opportunity, and quality of life.

It includes things like housing, transportation, sidewalks, parks, air quality, grocery access, neighborhood safety, and the condition of buildings and public spaces.

Goal: Create neighborhoods and environments that promote health and safety.
